Notification 7/2022

1. In order to eliminate dependency on banking systems under the control of the illegal military council, and to institute an independent and secure mechanism for financial transactions in our endeavour to bring about eradication of military dictatorship, the Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment hereby announces the establishment of the Digital Myanmar Kyat (DMMK), which shall have the same cash value as the Myanmar kyat, as the official digital currency of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
2. The NUGPay Mobile Wallet shall be the official electronic wallet for use in conjunction with the Digital Myanmar Kyat.
3. In accordance with the Federal Democracy Charter Part II, Interim Constitutional Arrangements, Chapter 4, Section 25, subsection (b), this Notification is hereby published with the consent of the Union Government.
